Research and Technology Centre West Coast of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel (FTZ)
During my PhD thesis, I will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Stefan Garthe as an expert
on seabirds. The focus of his team is on the exploration of seabirds’ behaviour. International expertise and years of data acquisition on Heligoland (i. a. data of breeding success in the nature reserve Lummenfelsen) are supporting this project.
Verein Jordsand zum Schutz der Seevögel und der Natur e. V.
Verein Jordsand e. V. is one of Germany’s eldest nature conserving societies, taking care of numerous and greatly differing conservation areas. On Heligoland, the society is caring for all the three nature reserves, and concurrently is my employer. Based on long lasting supervision, the society especially supports scientific field work and provides detailed information on the reserves. In addition, Dr. Rebecca Ballstaedt is supporting me with her expertise on macro plastics and marine pollution.

Alfred-Wegener-Institut Helmholtz-Zentrum für Polar- und Meeresforschung (AWI)
Dr. Gunnar Gerdts, internationally renowned expert in the field of plastic pollution and head of national and international research projects on microplastics, is supporting the project especially with the analysis of artificial nesting material, providing the laboratories of the AWI.
Institut of Avian Research "Vogelwarte Helgoland" (IfV)
Dr. Jochen Dierschke, technical director of the IfV’s local office, is one of Germany’s leading ornithologists. His experience from many years of scientific work (field mappings, development of populations, etc.) at the Lummenfelsen, together with corresponding data collection as well as ornithological expertise are supporting me with my thesis.
Municipality of Heligoland
The municipality of Heligoland, represented by mayor Jörg Singer, is supporting the project by a scholarship, covering the personnel costs. Without this support, the project could not have been implemented this promptly.

S3 - Scientific Solutions for Sustainability
The work on site and public relations work in the form of lectures on the mainland is supported by donations. In addition, thanks to the help of S3 I was able to purchase more wildlife cameras!
The association supports the public work of the project by lectures fed with current research results. Due to the large cross-linking the current research project at schools, in addition, on fairs and other meetings is presented here.
Thank you very much for your support of the project!
